Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 13, 2026  —  Effective: April 13, 2026

Overview

SCOUT is a multi-agent AI platform built by Michael Labs. Your missions, your data, your machine. This policy explains what we collect — intentionally very little — and how you stay in control.

This Privacy Policy applies to the SCOUT macOS application and any related services operated by Michael Labs LLC (“Michael Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Michael Labs LLC is a Michigan limited liability company and the operator of SCOUT. By downloading, installing, or using SCOUT, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Information We Collect

What You Give Us

SCOUT collects only what you deliberately hand over:

  • Microsoft account basics returned by the Microsoft OAuth sign-in flow (name, email, tenant identifier) when you connect Outlook, Calendar, or related Microsoft 365 services
  • Emails, calendar items, tasks, and documents that SCOUT agents read on your behalf via integrations you explicitly authorize
  • Agent mission inputs — the prompts, files, and context you provide when launching a mission
  • Support correspondence you send us directly

Information Collected Automatically

SCOUT captures limited diagnostic telemetry so we can keep the helm reliable:

  • Crash logs and stack traces via Apple’s built-in crash reporting
  • Anonymized in-app usage (feature interactions, session counts — not tied to identity)
  • Performance metrics that help us isolate regressions

What We Do Not Collect

We are intentional about the signal we ignore:

  • Precise location data of any kind
  • Files on your Mac outside of what you explicitly bring into a mission
  • Contacts, keystrokes, or screen recordings
  • Biometric data
  • Payment information — all purchases are processed by Apple and never touch our systems

How We Use Data

We use the information SCOUT collects for a small, defined set of purposes:

  • To operate SCOUT and execute the missions you launch
  • To improve reliability, performance, and agent quality over time
  • To diagnose bugs and investigate crashes
  • To honor your integration requests — for example, reading an email thread when an agent needs it to complete a mission
  • To comply with law when we have a good-faith legal obligation to do so

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising in SCOUT. We do not train third-party foundation models on your mission content.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Limited sharing happens only through the following channels:

Service Providers

  • Microsoft (Microsoft Graph): When you connect Outlook, calendar, or other Microsoft services, SCOUT talks to Microsoft Graph on your behalf using your consent tokens. Your Microsoft data is governed by Microsoft’s own terms and privacy policies.
  • Apple: Apple handles crash reporting, TestFlight distribution, App Store delivery, and in-app purchases for SCOUT.
  • Anthropic (optional): If you enable LLM-powered agent reasoning with an Anthropic model, mission prompts are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate agent responses. You can disable this at any time. Anthropic’s handling of data routed to its API is governed by Anthropic’s commercial terms.

Service providers are contractually bound, or bound by their published policies, to use your data only as needed to provide their services.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information when required by law, court order, subpoena, or other valid governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, Michael Labs, or the public.

Data Storage & Security

SCOUT is local-first. Your mission content, agent history, and connected-integration cache are stored in SCOUT’s app sandbox on your Mac. Michael Labs does not run central servers that hold your mission content.

Sensitive credentials — OAuth tokens, API keys, and refresh tokens — are stored in the macOS Keychain with the standard OS-level protections (hardware-backed encryption where available, per-app access control, and Touch ID / Face ID gating when you enable it).

We rely on Apple’s platform security posture (code signing, app sandboxing, file protection classes, transport security) for data at rest on your device and in transit to third-party services.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Access, Export, and Deletion

You can access, export, or delete your mission data and agent history directly within the SCOUT app at any time. Disconnecting an integration revokes SCOUT’s access to that third-party service; you can also revoke tokens from the provider’s own security dashboard. Uninstalling SCOUT removes locally stored data from your Mac.

California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion of personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at the address below.

European Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing. Our lawful basis for processing is primarily our legitimate interests in providing and improving SCOUT, performance of our contract with you, and your explicit consent for optional features such as third-party LLM reasoning.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@michaellabs.org.

Children’s Privacy

SCOUT is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your continued use of SCOUT after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
